Bec of Hearts, aka Bec’s Cosplay Wonderland, is a Toronto, Canada based cosplayer obsessed with Starfire! Read a little about her below in her own words from her website, check out her amazing Starfires (all versions!) and then follow her on Facebook and Instagram!
Hi! I’m Bec of Hearts!
With my base of operations in Toronto, I have dedicated most of my free time to the art of cosplay.
I first entered the community wearing only Kairi from Kingdom Hearts to a few local conventions, but have added closets full to my repertoire since then.
Spanning Disney to DC, I always try my best to bring everyone’s favorite characters to life – hot glue burns included.
WHY I LOVE COSPLAYING
Freedom. This aspect always and still does push me to cosplay.
You can be whoever you want to be when cosplaying and this was very freeing for me early on when I did not feel liked I belonged in most circles.
Expressing myself through cosplay and having the freedom to create what I want has definitely helped me overcome a lot of life’s challenges.
Next time the world tells you no, step onto the convention floor. As a superhero, video game character or meme, someone will admire that YOU chose that cosplay – that YOU are awesome!
Cosplay is a creative outlet that helps me open up and talk to people, improve skills based on the arts and generally have a good time. Its a hobby I cant imagine my life without!
“This is one of my newest cosplays and I loved wearing it! So far I’m really enjoying Starfire’s new comic and the new design is a lot more comfortable to cosplay, for me anyway. Gotta say it was a major pain getting those circles sewn into that spandex top and there are some things I plan on changing for next time I wear it but for now I’m pretty okay with how it turned out.” – Bec (Dec 2015)
